Erasmus + is a program of the European Union that supports projects, partnerships, activities and mobility in the fields of education, vocational training, youth work and sports. The Erasmus + program (2014-2020) draws on the experience and success of past EU programs in higher education (Tempus and Erasmus Mundus).

2017 is marked by a campaign to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Erasmus program, demonstrating the achievements and impact of the program during various events throughout the year. The European Union supports the process of reforming the education of Uzbekistan since 1994, when the first Tempus Tacis projects started in Samarkand and Bukhara. More than 80 Tempus projects for a total of over 32 million euros and 25 Erasmus + projects with a total budget of 9 million euros have provided significant support to the overall modernization of the higher education system in Uzbekistan.
