As part of the cooperation between the Tashkent Pediatric Medical Institute and the Kazakh National Medical University named after S.D. Asfendiyarov in the fields of academic mobility and, for the first time, scientific internship, a large-scale joint initiative was conducted from April 14 to May 5, 2025. The departments of Hospital Pediatrics No. 2 and Traditional Medicine (headed by Prof. D.I. Akhmedova), and Hospital Pediatrics No. 1 and Traditional Medicine (headed by Prof. N.R. Alieva), collaborated with Professor A.T. Musaev of the Kazakh National Medical University named after S.D. Asfendiyarov.

Professor A.T. Musaev delivered lectures on current issues in pediatrics and emergency medicine to students and clinical residents of TPMI. As part of the scientific internship, he gave lectures and conducted master classes for doctoral students, master’s students, undergraduates, and clinical residents of the Tashkent Pediatric Medical Institute on key aspects of scientific research, including “Organization and Conduct of Scientific Research. Grant Writing,” “Research Projects,” and “Scientific Publication: How to Prepare an Article for an International Journal.”

As part of the academic mobility and scientific internship program, an International Scientific and Practical Conference of Young Scientists and Students entitled “Innovative Technologies in Public Health” was held in a hybrid format under the leadership of the rector of TPMI, Prof. B.T. Daminov, and professors D.I. Akhmedova, A.T. Musaev, and N.R. Alieva. The event was covered by Uzbekistan’s national television. The conference welcomed participation from students, graduate students, residents, doctoral candidates, young scientists, and their research advisors from Uzbekistan (TPMI, TMA, TMSI, SamSMU, Fergana Institute of Public Health, Urgench Branch of TMA, Urgench State University), Kazakhstan (KazNMU named after S.D. Asfendiyarov, Yassawi International Kazakh-Turkish University, Astana Medical University, Nazarbayev University School of Medicine, KRMU, South Kazakhstan Medical Academy, UIB, Caspian University), and the Kyrgyz Republic (KRSU named after the First President of the Russian Federation B.N. Yeltsin).

The goal of the conference was to encourage the creative activity of students, graduate students, and young scientists, and to engage them in scientific research and solving current issues in healthcare. In addition, the conference aimed to strengthen educational and scientific ties between young researchers from Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. The conference included plenary and sectional sessions, during which over 100 oral and poster presentations were delivered by students, graduate students, residents, and doctoral candidates. These reports reflected the results of research by young scientists, particularly focused on practical aspects of priority areas in medicine, including medical and social support for children with various conditions, including genetic and hereditary diseases. The best scientific presentations were awarded in three categories: best work by students, graduate students/residents, and doctoral candidates.

As part of the scientific internship, KazNMU doctoral student Vildan Arslanovich Indershiev familiarized himself with the scientific research work of TPMI, took part in numerous academic events, including seminars, and helped organize the international conference. He also served as a co-moderator in the doctoral section. Upon completion of the academic mobility and scientific internship, Professor A.T. Musaev and doctoral student V.A. Indershiev were awarded certificates.

During the scientific internship, Professor A.T. Musaev and doctoral student V.A. Indershiev visited the Institute of Immunology and Human Genomics of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan, where they familiarized themselves with the institute’s activities and equipment used for conducting advanced molecular-genetic research.

As a result of the academic mobility and scientific internship, the following outputs were prepared: a scientific article for a Scopus-indexed journal, an invention patent application, textbook chapters, and a collection of abstracts from the International Scientific and Practical Conference of Young Scientists and Students “Innovative Technologies in Public Health.”
