On May 26, 2023, the Tashkent Pediatric Medical Institute hosted an international scientific and practical conference on the topic “MODERN TRENDS IN TEACHING FOREIGN LANGUAGES IN THE 21st CENTURY”. This event was organized by the Department of Foreign Languages of TASHPMI, in pursuance and implementation of the goals and objectives defined in the Decree of the President of May 19, 2021 UP No. 5117 “On measures to bring the promotion of the study of foreign languages to a qualitatively new level in the Republic of Uzbekistan”

The conference was held online and offline using remote technologies. Scientists and specialists from the countries of the USA, Europe, the Asian region, specialists from local medical higher and secondary specialized educational institutions, teachers and students took an active part in the conference. The conference addressed such issues as defining the principles of effective activity in accordance with modern requirements in teaching and mastering foreign languages, identifying mechanisms for improving the language skills and abilities of specialists in various fields, and comprehensively developing the benefits of widespread use of innovative technologies in the field of education of the 21st century.

In the main part of the international conference, interesting lectures by foreign scientists-experts were organized on the basis of an innovative exchange of ideas with the participants. In particular, Roberto Boltri, professor at the University of Bologna in Italy, Mark Reese, professor at the University of Washington in the USA, A.Sh. Baltinova and S.A. Tudekeyeva from Kazakhstan., experienced Uzbek specialists, teachers-employees of the department of foreign languages of TOSHPTI focused on such issues as building the potential of modern youth in the international arena, an integrated approach to teaching foreign languages in the educational system. Especially interesting was the lecture by the British expert Richard Goodall “How important is critical thinking for education?” The interactive lecture of the conference took a deep place in the hearts of the conference participants. The lecture was held in a live form, with the active participation of students and teachers, in the format of questions and answers and discussions organized by a London expert with students of TashPMI, the craving of young people for knowledge in English was manifested.

At the end of the conference under the guidance of the head of the department of foreign languages Buranova D.D. the results were analyzed and the resolution of the conference was adopted. At the international conference, participants were able to gain new information through the effective exchange of ideas, find solutions to current problems and create new innovative plans to achieve results. Diplomas and souvenirs were presented to the participants and students of the institute, who actively participated in the conference in the nominations “The most interesting question”, “The most active participant” and “The most literate student”.
