On the basis of Appendix No. 2 to the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated December 18, 2009 No. 319 “Regulations on clinical residency” in order to expand the scope of knowledge and skills, clinical residents may be involved in scientific work (preparation of abstracts, thematic analysis and literature review, coverage of certain provisions in medical practice, presentations at conferences, clinical trials of new medicines, etc.), carried out outside the individual training plan of a clinical resident.
The activities of the Clinical residency department are regulated by the Laws “On Education”, “On the national training program” and other regulatory documents. This is part of a multi-level structure of higher medical education, the task of which is to train highly qualified specialists for independent work in healthcare institutions.
Clinical residency is a type of education that is part of the retraining system and is part of a multi–level structure of continuing professional education of doctors.
Training in clinical residency is regulated by the provision in Annex 2 to Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 319 of December 18, 2009.
In the Tashkent Pediatric Medical Institute, the training of doctors in clinical residency is carried out according to the nomenclature of medical specialties approved by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan, according to curricula and curricula for each specialty, which are created based on the requirements of the specialty to the specialist.
In the 2022-2023 academic year, TASHPMI will train doctors in clinical residency in the following specialties:
- Obstetrics and gynecology
- Allergology and clinical immunology
- Nervous diseases
- Anesthesiology and resuscitation
- Pediatric surgery
- Pediatric anesthesiology and intensive care
- Children’s nervous diseases
- Gynecology of children and adolescent girls.
- Children’s infectious diseases
- Pediatric nephrology with hemodialysis
- Dermatovenerology
- Cardiology
- Neurosurgery
- Neonatology
- Nephrology with hemodialysis
- Narcology
- Surgery
- Oncology
- Otorhinolaryngology
- Ophthalmology

International students also study in clinical residency. In the 2022-2023 academic year, foreign students study in the specialties of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Surgery and Endocrinology.
Memoranda of cooperation have been signed with TASHPTI and SPbSMU, educational programs in 3 specialties have been developed in the clinical residency. On the basis of the joint program of obstetrics and gynecology, otorhinolaryngology and neurology, students will continue their studies in the first year of TASHPMI, and in the second year – at SPbSPMU.
