The clinical bases where undergraduate students, as well as master’s students and clinical residents study are:
— 2-city children’s surgical clinical hospital (main base)
— National Children’s Medical Center;
— 1st City Children’s Surgical Clinical Hospital
— Republican Republican Perinatal Center of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan;

The main clinical base of the department is the city children’s clinical surgical hospital No. 2 of the city of Tashkent. The hospital’s bed capacity is 185 beds and includes departments of elective surgery, emergency surgery, surgical infection, thoracic surgery, traumatology-orthopedics and intensive care units. The department’s auxiliary clinical bases are the neonatal surgery departments of the Republican Perinatal Center and the pediatric surgery departments of the 1st City Children’s Clinical Hospital. A sufficiently high number of beds for various surgical profiles creates the maximum conditions for teaching pediatric surgery in its relevant sections.

Students of the 6th year study at the department, where the subject “Pediatric surgery” and the basics of pediatric outpatient surgery are taught, providing for the training of general practitioners for primary health care. In addition, clinical residents and residents of the Master’s degree in pediatric surgery are trained at the department.

In teaching, along with traditional methods (posters, color slides, educational radiographs, etc.), modern technical teaching aids are used – video lectures, video clips of complex operations, electronic textbooks. Thanks to the initiative of Prof. N.Sh.Ergasheva at the department organized a library, the collections of which include textbooks and monographs on pediatric surgery, magazines. “Children’s Surgery”, “Surgery”, “Bulletin of Surgery”, “Pediatrics”, “Surgery of Uzbekistan”, etc. (over 100 titles in total). Students can use the library’s collection both during the day and while on duty at the clinic.

Employees of the department actively cooperate with all departments of pediatric surgery of medical universities of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Republican Center for Minimally Invasive and Endosurgery of Children, the Republican Scientific Center for Surgery named after Academician V.V. Vakhidov, the Republican Scientific Center for Emergency Medical Care of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The department has long-standing scientific ties with the departments of pediatric surgery of the St. Petersburg Pediatric Medical Academy, the Medical University of Russia and the Sharite Clinic – Berlin (Germany).

Employees of the department actively participate in the development of methodological recommendations, teaching aids and textbooks on pediatric surgery. To date, they have published 86 methodological recommendations, 8 textbooks, 12 monographs and 13 teaching aids.

In addition, department staff, masters, applicants and graduate students take an active part in international conferences, congresses and symposiums. To date, they have published more than 1,800 abstracts and more than 600 articles.

The main directions of work of the department:

Educational – theoretical and practical training for 6th year students in the general practitioner program; training of clinical residents and masters in pediatric surgery.

Moral and educational – increasing and improving the spiritual and worldview qualities of the individual and universal and national principles based on the works and speeches of President Sh.M. Mirziyoyev, decrees and decisions of the Oliy Majlis and the Cabinet of Ministers, as well as local governing bodies related to the concept of educating a harmoniously developed generation, especially in the spiritual and educational aspect.

Scientific – diagnosis and surgery of malformations of the genitourinary system and gastrointestinal tract; purulent-septic surgery; thoracic surgery; neonatal surgery, hepato-biliary surgery.

Medical – provision of qualified advisory and specialized surgical care to the children’s population of Tashkent and regions of the Republic.
