History of the Department Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Child gynecology Tashkent Pediatric Medical Institute was founded August 20, 1972. The first head of the department, was elected Professor, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Honored Worker of Science of Uzbekistan A. Kadyrov. Teaching staff of the department consists of 10 members – Professors Cohen IS, N. Mamedov, assistant MD Hasandzhanova RM, Pankov, EN, Yusupov AZ, Zakhidov DV Gafurova MG Rizaeva GT, Karapetova AA PhD. Kadyrova AA the department has been actively pursued scientific and practical work: Prepared 2 doctors and 10 candidates of medical sciences. 

From 1974 to 1981 he headed the Department Associate Professor Cohen IS.

From 1981 to 1987y.y. and from 1992 to 1997 directed the Department of Associate Zakhidov DV This period is associated with the restructuring of educational activities in the education system: the transition to test the rating system of assessing students.

In the period 1987-1992 gg chair was Professor Khodjaeva AD, under her leadership conducted productive educational and methodical work and medical work.

From 1997-2022 he was Professor Kurbanov Jahangir Jamalovich. The outstanding surgeon Kurbanov Jahangir Jamalovich, is considered the founder of surgical gynecology in Uzbekistan. During the entire scientific and pedagogical activity, more than 100 scientific articles, more than 30 educational and methodological recommendations have been published. Along with medical work, he has trained many specialists and scientists. Edited by Prof. Russian Russian Kurbanova D.D. has published several textbooks “Surgical treatment of genital prolapse”, in Russian and Uzbek, as well as monographs in Uzbek, Russian and English.

Currently, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Associate Professor Kurbanov B.B. has been appointed head of the department since 2023.

Students scientific society actively works at the department; over the entire period of work of this society, more than 100 reports have been completed. Since 2018, the department has opened a Master’s degree in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
